In retrospect: Public event on "Quality of Life & Cancer"

The SAKK Patient Advisory Board organized a series of lectures on May 6, 2022 within the framework of the Patient Forum, to tie in with the SAKK semi-annual meeting

The patient forum on May 6, 2022 on the topic of "Quality of Life & Cancer", successfully organized by the SAKK Patient Advisory Board, met great interest.

In her lecture, Prof. Claudia Witt gave valuable insights into the study situation on Mind Body Medicine and resource-oriented support measures that strengthen self-efficacy. Prof. Manuela Eicher dealt with concrete tools for self-care for cancer patients and care givers. Prof. Martin Hafen, affected person and lecturer for health promotion, showed how cancer is to be understood theoretically as an existential crisis which affects many systems and presented his own cancer story in a touching way. Dr. Martin Inderbitzin, affected person and neurobiologist showed how he managed to see cancer as a chance and to live with cancer for 10 years and to be happy today.

The recorded presentations and the final discussion from the Patient Forum "Quality of Life and Cancer" are available here.

We all learned and took away a lot from this forum, which successfully combined science and real life with cancer. Many thanks to all speakers and participants!
