The presidencies and vice presidencies of several research groups were filled or confirmed at the SAKK semi-annual meeting in May and at the June 2023 Board meeting.

The presidencies and vice presidencies of several research groups were filled or confirmed at the SAKK semi-annual meeting in May and at the June 2023 Board meeting.

 

Project Group Breast Cancer

PD Dr. med Marcus Vetter

PD Dr. med. Marcus Vetter, Cantonal hospital Baselland, was elected as president. Marcus Vetter is Chief Physician and Head of the Center for Oncology & Hematology at KSBL. He has been a member of SAKK for many years and, together with colleagues at the University Hospital Basel (USB) and at ETH, has designed and led several studies to improve breast cancer treatment. The oncologist is also heavily involved in the field of geriatric oncology. In February of this year, he won the SAKK/Gilead Expanding Horizons Award for a project to promote advanced training in geriatric oncology. As president of the SAKK Breast Cancer Project Group, he hopes to expand the trial portfolio and pursue a national and international study strategy.

Dr. med. Dr. rer. nat. Christian Britschgi

Dr. med. Dr. rer. nat. Christian Britschgi, University Hospital Zurich, was elected as vice president.

 


Working Group Melanoma

Dr. med. Ioannis Metaxas

Dr. med. Ioannis Metaxas, Spital Thurgau AG, was re-elected as vice president.

 


Working Group Cellular Therapies

Prof. Dr. med. Dominik Schneidawind

Prof. Dr. med. Dominik Schneidawind, University Hospital Zurich, was elected as vice president.

 


Section Network for Cancer Predisposition Testing and Counseling

Dr. med Rossella Graffeo Galbiati

Dr. med. Rossella Graffeo, Oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland (IOSI), was elected as vice president.
